Mangaluru, Aug 29: The student engagement cell of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organised ‘Kalothsava 2026’ on August 27 at Fr L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.
John Chandran, art teacher and cartoonist, St Aloysius High School, Mangaluru, was the chief guest. Viyan D’Souza, music producer and singer, Godgodo TV, was the guest of honour.
Dr Praveen Martis SJ, VC of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) presided over the programme. Dr Melwyn D’Cunha, SJ, pro VC of the University, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Naveen Mascarenhas, chair of student engagement cell (external), Aldrina A M convenor of the programme, Rishel Noronha, co-convenor, Viveka M S D’Mello E Granjo, II B Ed, cultural secretary and Giselle Pearl Vas, II BTech, president of student council were on the dais.
Through his words, John Chandran spoke about world renowned artist Br Antonio Moscheni’s art and frescos. He encouraged students to participate in art activities and the future in art field. Besides this, he told the students to develop a consciousness about art and culture.
Viyan D’Souza in his words briefed about the encouragement given to the students at St Aloysius to shape and unleash their talents. He encouraged the students to explore their talents in all the way possible.
Dr Praveen Martis SJ in his speech said that St Aloysius College is giving a lot of encouragement to its students to nurture their talents. He urged the students to take advantage of it.
The chair of student engagement cell, Naveen Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and briefed the audience on Kalotsava 2026. He said that the purpose of this programme is to identity the students’ talents and nurture them by the experts from the respective field. St Aloysius has a number of talented students in different areas like drama, skit, singing, dancing, acting, quiz, etc. and the institution is highly supportive giving opportunities to the students to showcase their talents both inside and outside the campus.
Deans of various schools of the college, deans, chairs and the faculty members were present during the programme.
Poorvi Shetty from the School of Law compered the programme. Rishel Noronha and Viveka M S D’Mello introduced the guests. The programme convener Aldrina A M proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme ended with a colourful cultural programme by the students of the university. The informal cultural programme was compered by Shreya Das from the School of engineering.
