Udupi, Aug 29: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi joyfully enthusiastically marked National Sports Day 2026 through an engaging and informative variety entertainment programme. The programme themed ‘Connecting Hearts through the Spirit of Sports’ was thoughtfully conceptualised and skilfully hosted by students of grade 8B.
A devotional prayer segment at the onset sought rich blessings on all those who pursue sports and embody true sportsman spirit. Vaishnavi then accorded gracious welcome to the chief guest, Dhruva N Ballal, an acclaimed national athlete and a proud Cecilian. The principal, Sr Lathika AC felicitated the distinguished alumnus with a token of appreciation and welcome. The welcome words were enlivened by a delightful welcome dance.





















The students highlighted the significance of the special day with meaningful tableau portraying the achievements of various eminent sportsmen of India. They also captivated the audience with a narrative skit depicting the development of various sport, showcasing how the nation has steadily carved a place for itself on the international sporting arena.
In his keynote address, Dhruva reminisced about his school days at St Cecily’s where his journey of sports began. Addressing the young students, he emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between academics and sports. He also shared his pearls of wisdom out of his own experience such as ‘Accept victory and defeat in the right spirit, never be afraid of defeat or failure and always understand that participation is more important than winning’. With these tips, he also expressed his gratitude to his school teachers acknowledging their role in shaping his journey.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressed by Priyal Joveena.
The celebration served as a fitting tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship and reinforced the message that true victory lies not merely in winning medals, but in striving with dedication, accepting challenges with courage and emerging stronger from every experience.
