Bengaluru, Aug 31: The Jain community in Karnataka has renewed its demand for the establishment of a separate Jain Development Corporation for the comprehensive development and welfare of the community, pointing out that the proposal has not yet been officially announced in the State Government’s Budget.

The demand was reiterated on Monday, August 31, at 2 pm at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, during a programme held in the presence of chief minister D K Shivakumar. Jain seers, members of the Karnataka Jain Association, community representatives and other dignitaries were present at the function.

The demand for a separate Jain Corporation Board is being continuously pursued on behalf of Acharya Gunadharanandi Muni Maharaja, Jain sages and the wider Jain community.

Those supporting the demand include Swasthi Shree Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Pattacharya Panditacharyavarya Maha Swamiji of Moodbidri Jain Math; Varur Hubballi Dharmasena Bhattaraka Swamiji; Kollapur Lakshmisen Bhattaraka Swamiji; and Kambadahalli Bhanukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji.

The community has been seeking a dedicated corporation to promote its comprehensive development and address its educational, social, cultural, religious and other developmental needs across Karnataka.

The programme also featured the honouring of chief minister D K Shivakumar. Acharya Ravishena, described as a Kannada Adhyatma Yogi, and Sri Rama were also present.

Members of the Karnataka Jain Association, Jain community leaders, seers and other dignitaries attended the programme and reiterated their demand for the State Government to take concrete steps towards establishing a separate Jain Development Corporation.

The community hopes that the long-standing demand will receive due consideration from the Karnataka Government and find a place in its future policy and budgetary decisions.
