Mangaluru, Sep 1: A one-day national seminar on 'Kannada Literature and Theatre' will be held on September 3 in the college auditorium of Milagres College, Mangaluru. The seminar is being organised by the IQAC of Milagres College, in association with Bhasha Sangama and VIKASA, the Kannada Teachers’ Association of Mangalore University.
The programme will be inaugurated by renowned theatre personality Janni (Janardhan) of Rangayana, Mysuru. Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, will preside over the programme.


Dr Dhananjaya Kumble, head of the SVP Kannada Studies Institute, Mangalore University, will release a book containing research papers. Dr Pavithra, assistant professor, department of performing arts, Pondicherry University, will deliver the keynote address.
Dr Mahesh M, assistant professor of Kannada at Christ Academy Institute of Law (CAIL), Hulimangala, Bengaluru, Dr Alwyn Serrao, principal of Milagres College, and Dr Chinnaswamy N, president of VIKASA, will be present at the programme.
In the first session of the seminar, Dr Sripada Bhat, a theatre expert from Mangaluru, will participate as the resource person. This will be followed by paper presentations by faculty members and research scholars from various colleges.
At 2:00 pm, the faculty members of Milagres College will present 'Maha Ile', a theatrical adaptation based on stories and poems. The performance is open to the general public.
The valedictory ceremony that follows will be presided over by Dr Alwin Serrao, principal of Milagres College. Prof Madhava M K, professor at the Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, will deliver the valedictory address. Dr Rudolf Noronha, chief general manager of MRPL, will be present as the chief guest.
The college stated that the seminar aims to provide a platform for academic discussions and research on Kannada literature and theatre.
