81-year-old woman dies after being hit by bike in Kadaba

Kadaba, Sep 2: An 81-year-old woman died after being hit by a motorcycle while standing by the roadside at Kalara near Kadaba on the Uppinangady-Kadaba-Subrahmanya State Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Varija, wife of the late Krishnappa Bhandary and a resident of Perladakere in Kalara, Kadaba village.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Varija was standing by the roadside while waiting to cross the road. A motorcycle travelling from the Kadaba side reportedly hit her.

She sustained serious injuries and was initially rushed to a hospital in Puttur. She was later shifted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.

Varija had no husband or children. She was residing near her elder sister’s house at Perladakere, while her sister’s son Dhananjaya was taking care of her.
