Udupi: Devotees Flock to Three Mariamma Temples for 'Mari Puja'

Udupi, Mar 29: ‘Mari Puja’ celebrations at three Mariamma Temples in Kaup began on Tuesday March 27.

Thousands of devotees from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttar Kannada, Kasargod, Shimoga, and Chikmagalur districts and Mumbai are arriving to participate in the celebrations at Hale Mariamma temple and Hosa Mariyamma temple in Kaup and Moorane Marigudi in Kalya.

The sacrifices of sheep, goats, and roosters were held on the night of Wednesday March 28.

Hundreds of policemen led by Kaup circle inspector Shivanand Valekar and three sub-inspectors are providing tight security for the religious celebrations.
