Moodabidri, Sep 3: The North sub-division crime detection team has arrested a man who had been absconding for 14 years without appearing before the court in connection with a fraud case involving lacs of rupees.
The arrested accused has been identified as Srinivasa B R (48), a resident of Baithadka in Jallur village of Sullia taluk.

According to the police, Srinivasa had availed a vehicle loan of Rs 10 lac from Shriram Finance in 2009 and purchased a Telcon EX 70 vehicle. However, he failed to pay the loan instalments and did not produce the vehicle for inspection, thereby cheating the finance company. Following a complaint, a case was registered against him at the Moodabidri police station in 2012.
As he continuously failed to appear for the hearings, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with CC No 526/2025. Acting on the warrant, the police apprehended Srinivasa near Baithadka Junction in Jallur village on September 2 and produced him before the court.
The police also stated that another warrant related to a cheque bounce case is pending against the accused.
