Mangaluru, Sep 3: The Central Library of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM) organized the National Librarians’ Day Programme and Recognition of Best Library Users & Prize Distribution Ceremony at the Ground Floor Seminar Hall.
The programme, coordinated by Dr Bharathi K, librarian, SCEM, commemorated the contributions of Dr S R Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India, while highlighting the importance of libraries in learning, research and knowledge sharing.

The event was graced by Rajaneesh Appayya, licensing manager, Springer Nature, South India, as the chief guest and resource person, and Akash S, assistant manager – Product Training & Technical Support, Drillbit Plagiarism Software, as the resource person. Krishna Hegde, administrator & trustee, SCEM, was the invitee. Dr S S Injaganeri, principal, and Dr Sudheer Shetty, vice principal, SCEM, were also present on the dais.
The programme commenced with a video presentation highlighting the life and contributions of Dr S R Ranganathan, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Informative sessions on scholarly resources and plagiarism awareness were conducted by the resource persons.
A key highlight was the recognition of Best Library Users in the categories of Print Resources and Digital Information Resources. Prizes were also distributed to winners of the Quiz, 3-Minute Talk, Treasure Hunt and Collage Making competitions.
Dr Chandana B R, associate professor, ECE Department, served as the master of ceremony, guiding the proceedings.
