Kasargod, Sep 4: In a tragic incident, an 11-year-old boy lost his life after a flagpole rope accidentally got entangled around his neck while he was playing in front of an Anganwadi. The incident took place at Kanjipoyil near Madikai on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Anek, son of Rajesh and Neethu. He was a fifth-standard student at a school in Kanjipoyil.

According to sources, the incident occurred on the premises of the Nandanakuli Anganwadi at Kanjipoyil. At around 5 pm on Thursday, Anek was reportedly playing in front of the Anganwadi when the rope tied to the flagpole accidentally tightened around his neck.

An autorickshaw driver who was passing by the route noticed the boy and immediately freed him from the rope. He was rushed to a hospital in Kanhangad without delay. However, Anek had unfortunately breathed his last before reaching the hospital.

Preliminary suspicions suggest that the rope accidentally tangled around his neck while he was playing, which led to the tragic death. The local police have registered a case and are conducting a further investigation into the incident.
