Panaji, Sep 4: Zenito Cardozo, an accused in the alleged attempt-to-murder case involving activist Rama Kankonkar, has approached the High Court challenging the trial court’s order directing that charges be framed against him.
Following the petition, the High Court has deferred the proceedings for framing of charges, which were scheduled for September 7, and issued notice to the Goa government.
Cardozo has challenged the trial court’s decision to proceed with framing charges in the case. The matter will now come up before the High Court for further consideration.
The development has temporarily put the trial court proceedings on hold pending the High Court’s decision on Cardozo’s petition.
