Janmashtami: Mangaluru braces for traffic snarls as Mosaru Kudike events set for Sept 5

Mangaluru, Sep 4: Mangaluru is set for traffic disruptions on September 5 as Mosaru Kudike programmes and processions will be held at several locations across the city as part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations.

With major roads expected to witness increased traffic, the Mangaluru City police commissioner has advised the public to use alternative routes wherever possible.

The areas expected to experience congestion and the suggested alternative routes are as follows:

1. Thokkottu Innerpet Mosaru Kudike:

Traffic congestion is likely on National Highway 66 between Thokkottu Junction and Kolya Junction, and towards Ullal Abbakka Circle and Thokkottu Innerpet.

Alternative routes:

  • Vehicles travelling towards Thalapady from Thokkottu Junction can turn left onto the service road at Thokkottu Junction, turn right at Deralakatte Junction and proceed via Madyar–Madoor–Beerikotekar Junction.
  • Vehicles travelling from Thokkottu Junction towards Ullal Abbakka Circle and Thokkottu Innerpet can take the Beerikotekar–Someshwara route.

2. Kadri Sri Gopalakrishna Mutt, Kadri Kambla Mosaru Kudike:

Traffic congestion is likely from Battagudda Junction towards Kadri Kambla and up to Bharat Beedi.

Alternative routes:

  • Vehicles travelling from Battagudda towards Kadri Kambla can take the Bijai Junction–Pinto Bakery–Karangalpady route.
  • Vehicles travelling from Bharat Beedi towards Battagudda can take the Mallikatta–Nanthoor route.

3. Sri Arasu Mundattaya Maidan, Attavar Mosaru Kudike:

Traffic congestion is likely from Koti Chennaya Circle through Babugudda and Attavar KMC Road up to Anand Shetty Circle.

Alternative routes:

  • Vehicles travelling from Koti Chennaya Circle towards Attavar can take the Valencia route.
  • Vehicles travelling from Attavar towards Koti Chennaya Circle can turn left at Attavar Anand Shetty Circle and proceed via S L Mathias Road and Highland Junction.

4. Sri Krishna Jnanodaya Bhajana Mandir, Kottara Mosaru Kudike:

Traffic congestion is likely on the stretch from Kottara Chowki to Urwa Store Junction.

Alternative routes:

  • Vehicles travelling from Lalbagh/Narayanaguru Circle towards Kottara Chowki can take the KSRTC–Kuntikana route.
  • Light motor vehicles travelling from Kottara Chowki towards Lalbagh can take the Kuntikana–Bijai–KSRTC route.
  • Heavy vehicles travelling from Kottara Chowki towards Lalbagh can take the Kuntikana–KPT Circle route.

Police urge motorists to cooperate

As the Mosaru Kudike programmes and processions are expected to affect traffic movement on several roads, the public has been advised to use alternative routes as far as possible.

The Mangaluru City police commissioner has also appealed to the public not to park vehicles at programme venues or along procession routes and to cooperate with the police department when traffic restrictions and regulation are in place.
