Muscat, Sep 5: At least 24 million barrels of crude oil and gas were transferred between ships in the Gulf of Oman on Friday, according to maritime intelligence company TankerTrackers.com.
The company said 17 ship-to-ship transfers involving crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) took place in the region.
Many more oil-laden tankers were reportedly seen waiting for transfer partners, with the area becoming increasingly crowded. TankerTrackers.com said port services were operating around the clock to facilitate smooth and safe transfers.

The company also reported that at least 7.25 million barrels of oil, along with two additional LNG tankers, were assembling to transit the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman under the protection of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The reported movement highlights the continuing efforts by energy companies and shipping operators to maintain oil and gas flows through the strategically important region amid heightened tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
The waterway is a key global energy route, carrying a significant share of the world's seaborne oil and gas supplies.
