Bantwal, Sep 5: Loretto Central School celebrated Teachers’ Day on Saturday, September 5, at the School Auditorium with great warmth and joy. The celebration was organised to honour the teachers and recognise their dedicated service in shaping the lives of young learners.

Fr James D’Souza, school manager; Fr Jason Vijay Monis, principal; Anitha Pais, vice principal; and Richard Miranda, PTA vice president, graced the occasion.

Richard Miranda, PTA vice president, conveyed his greetings to the teachers and spoke about their important role in shaping a child’s life. He described teachers as lamps of knowledge who light the path of their students. He expressed gratitude to teachers for nurturing children with values such as love, obedience, discipline, respect and responsibility, along with education.

Fr Jason Vijay Monis, principal, spoke about the challenging and responsible nature of the teaching profession. He emphasised that imparting knowledge and helping students learn is an important responsibility of every teacher. He said that the affection, appreciation and respect teachers receive from their students make all the struggles and challenges of the profession worthwhile.

Fr James D’Souza, manager, spoke about the significance of Teachers’ Day and explained that it is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned teacher, philosopher and former President of India. He highlighted that the occasion gives us an opportunity once a year to honour and express our gratitude to teachers. He also emphasised that teachers contribute not only to the academic progress of children but also to their overall development and formation as responsible individuals.

The celebration continued with a cultural programme presented by the students and PTA members. The students and PTA members also conducted a variety of games for the teachers, creating moments of fun and laughter. The teachers participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the activities organised for them.

As a gesture of appreciation, the management, PTA and students honoured the teachers with gifts, expressing their gratitude for the teachers’ dedication, guidance and service.

The programme was compered by Arun Walder, PTA member, and Rachel D’Souza of grade 10. Sachin, PTA member, delivered the welcome address, and Dhamvitha of Grade 10 proposed the vote of thanks.
