Mangaluru, Sep 7: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Omzoor Unit, in collaboration with the Education Commission and the Bible and Faith Formation Commission, organized a memorable and meaningful Teachers’ Day celebration at Holy Family Church, Omzoor, to honour and appreciate the dedicated teachers of the parish community.
The celebration was graced by Fr William Menezes, parish priest and director of ICYM, Parish Pastoral Council vice president Arthur D’Souza, secretary Daffny Lewis, superior of the Convent Sr Luciana, ICYM coordinators Vineet and Glevita Lasrado, along with ICYM president Joswin Pinto and secretary Lavita Pereira.










The formal programme commenced with a warm welcome by ICYM president Joswin Pinto. Teacher Reshma D’Souza then highlighted the significance of the teaching profession, reflecting on the responsibilities, challenges and joys of nurturing and shaping young minds. Arthur D’Souza spoke passionately about the noble vocation of teaching and the vital role educators play in building individuals, families and communities.
Delivering the presidential address, Fr William Menezes expressed heartfelt appreciation to the teaching fraternity and emphasized the teachers’ responsibility not only to impart knowledge but also to mould the spiritual, moral and responsible citizens of tomorrow. Florine Aranha proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, teachers, organizers and participants who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The formal proceedings were followed by a lively and entertaining cultural session. ICYM members organized a variety of fun-filled games for the teachers, creating an atmosphere of relaxation, laughter and camaraderie. Adding further cheer to the celebration, the members of the Bible and Faith Formation Commission presented an amusing skit that brought smiles and laughter to the gathering.
The celebration concluded with an enthusiastic prize distribution ceremony, honouring the winners of the various games. The Teachers’ Day programme was a fitting tribute to the educators of Omzoor Parish, celebrating their selfless service, dedication and invaluable contribution towards shaping the future generation.
