Kadaba: Man consumes poison after assaulting wife during domestic quarrel

Kadaba, Sep 7: A domestic dispute took a drastic turn when a man consumed poison after allegedly assaulting his wife at Kudmaru here on Sunday, September 6.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Suchithra P J. According to her police complaint, she has been married to the accused, Chidananda K, a resident of Kudmaru, for the past four years. On the morning of September 6, a heated argument broke out between the couple, which quickly escalated into physical violence. Chidananda allegedly assaulted Suchithra, causing her to collapse from the impact.

Neighbours immediately rushed to her rescue and admitted her to the Sullia government hospital for medical treatment. Shortly after the assault, Chidananda consumed poison and fell seriously ill. He is also currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Acting on the complaint, the Bellare police have registered a case (Crime No 56/2026) under sections 85, 115(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Authorities have stated that further legal action will be initiated against the accused once he is discharged from the hospital.
