Udupi, Sep 8: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm and reverence, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, philosopher, scholar and eminent teacher. Floral tributes were offered to Dr Radhakrishnan in remembrance of his contributions to education.
Ratnakumar, secretary, Sri Sode Vadiraja Matha Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi, presided over the programme. Dr H V Sudhaker Nayak, distinguished academician, researcher and former director of NITK Surathkal, was the chief guest and was honoured on the occasion.


Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, SMVITM, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the noble role of teachers in shaping students and society. Addressing the gathering, Dr Nayak emphasized that a teacher’s true achievement lies in the lasting impact made on students. He urged teachers to lead with compassion, empathy and positive values.
Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO, SODE Group of Institutions, extended his Teachers’ Day wishes and stressed that teachers should strive to be good human beings first. Ratnakumar said that teachers are the backbone of an educational institution and appreciated their dedication and contribution to the growth of SMVITM.
Dr Deepika B V, coordinator of the programme, was present. Deans, faculty members and staff attended the celebration. Anjali, student of the department of artificial intelligence and machine learning, served as the master of ceremony.
