Mangaluru, Sep 10: Unity College of Physiotherapy inaugurated its new physiotherapy outpatient department (OPD) at its campus on Shediguri, Dambel Road, Mangaluru, on Thursday September 10.

The new facility was inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of the chief guest, Dr Vaishali Sreejith, PT, senate member, RGUHS, guest of honour Ganesh Kulal, corporator, Mangaluru City Corporation, and Dr C P Habeeb Rahman, chairman, Unity Academy of Education.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vaishali Sreejith congratulated the management and physiotherapy team on the new initiative. She pointed out that there are limited physiotherapy centres within a 4–5 km radius of the campus and expressed confidence that the OPD would create awareness and provide accessible services to people in the surrounding areas.

She also highlighted the growing demand and recognition of physiotherapy as an important healthcare profession and encouraged young physiotherapists to take the profession forward with confidence and greater public awareness.

Dr C P Habeeb Rahman highlighted the institution's long journey in healthcare education and the growing importance of allied health sciences. He said the new OPD would benefit the public while providing students with valuable practical exposure and hands-on experience.

The OPD will provide physiotherapy care for sports injuries, back pain, stroke recovery, posture-related problems, post-surgery rehabilitation, shoulder and knee conditions, and mobility improvement.

Dr Shareef M, PT, head of the Department of Physiotherapy; Ashfaq M Habeeb, trustee; and Dr Sangeetha P, PT, principal, along with staff and students, were present at the programme.
