Kolnadu, Sep 10: As part of Poshan Maah, a health screening camp and nutrition awareness programme were organised at the Souharda Hall of Kolnadu Gram Panchayat, near Salethur Grounds, on Thursday.
The programme was organised jointly by the Department of Women and Child Development, Dakshina Kannada; Child Development Project Office, Vitla; Kolnadu Gram Panchayat; Primary Health Centre, Manchi; Centre for Rural Health Services and Development; and Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte, in collaboration with the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital.
A health screening camp was conducted in the morning, followed by the Poshan Maah awareness programme. Dr Ajith K, associate professor cum dietitian, department of nutrition and dietetics, Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, delivered a talk on balanced nutrition, healthy food choices, prevention of nutritional deficiencies, and the importance of adequate nutrition for women and children.

He highlighted the importance of including locally available nutritious foods such as millets, pulses, green leafy vegetables, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds in the daily diet. III BNYS students of Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College actively participated in the programme and supported the community nutrition awareness activities.
The programme aimed to promote healthy eating practices, nutritional awareness and prevention of malnutrition among the local community.
