Udupi bishop Dr Leslie C D’Souza meets Pope Leo XIV

Udupi, Sep 11: The bishop of the Udupi Catholic diocese, Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza, met Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on Thursday September 10 for the first time since assuming office and received his blessings.

Pope Leo XIV met all the newly appointed bishops from around the world on Thursday and later held separate meetings with the bishops of individual dioceses. During the meeting, Bishop Leslie, on behalf of the Udupi diocese, honoured Pope Leo XIV by presenting him with a traditional shawl and a statue of Our Lady of Milagres, the patroness of the diocese.

Bishop Leslie also conveyed the good wishes of all the faithful of the Udupi diocese and briefed him about the situation and progress of the diocese.

In response, Pope, in return has conveyed his greetings and blessings to all the faithful of Udupi diocese.
