Udupi: Two arrested for illegal rock blasting on govt land

Udupi, Sep 12: Manipal police have arrested two persons in connection with a case involving the illegal blasting of a rock using explosives on government land.

The arrested accused have been identified as K Govind Raj (40), a resident of Thodikarmar in Inna village, Karkala, and Shekappa Chalavadi (28), a native of Vijayapura and a resident of Kalyahalekatte.

A case had been registered at the Manipal police station after the accused allegedly blasted a rock using explosive materials illegally at Kukki Palke in Marne village on September 5, without obtaining permission from the concerned department.

Following an investigation into the case, Manipal police station PSI Thimmesh B N arrested the accused and seized a tractor, drilling machine and car used in connection with the incident.

The arrested accused were produced before the court.
