Mangaluru, Sep 12: The Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences (SIAHS), Srinivas University, celebrated 'Chetharonam 2026' -Onam celebration on September 3 at the Mukka Campus, Mangaluru, with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The programme was organized to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions associated with Onam while promoting unity, teamwork, cultural awareness, and student engagement within the institution.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of the Dean, Prof Pavana Krishna Moorthy, whose encouragement and leadership contributed significantly to the successful organization and smooth conduct of the celebration. The active involvement and support of the college administration, faculty members, course coordinators, and student representatives played an important role throughout the programme.
The inaugural programme was attended by Dr Pavana Krishna Moorthy, dean, and Jayashree Bolar, assistant registrar, along with Savin K, programme coordinator, and the organising committee members Sana Farhath and Pooja Mohan, who were present on the dais. Their presence added significance to the occasion and encouraged the students to actively participate in the celebration.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various programmes of the Institute. A variety of traditional and cultural programmes were organized as part of the celebration, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their cultural talents, creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm. The cultural activities created a vibrant and festive atmosphere on the campus and reflected the traditional spirit and values associated with Onam.
A special attraction of the celebration was the Chenda performance, which added a traditional and energetic touch to the programme. The rhythmic beats of the Chenda enhanced the festive ambience and provided the participants and audience with an opportunity to experience and appreciate Kerala's traditional cultural heritage.
The involvement of students in the planning, coordination, and execution of the various activities provided them with valuable opportunities to develop leadership, communication, teamwork, coordination, and event-management skills. Students from different programmes actively interacted with one another, thereby strengthening friendship, cooperation, and a sense of belonging within the Institute.
The programme was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Savin K Vidyan programme coordinator, with the active support of the organising committee members, faculty members, course coordinators, student representatives, and the college administration. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth coordination and successful completion of the celebration.
The Onam Celebration 2026 was a grand success and served as a meaningful platform for promoting cultural values, student participation, teamwork, leadership, and institutional unity. The programme successfully brought together students and faculty members in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere, creating memorable experiences and strengthening the spirit of togetherness within the Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences.
