Srinivas University hosts guest lecture on cyber security awareness

Mangaluru, Sep 12: A guest lecture on 'Empowering Cyber Security in the Modern World' was organised by Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University in association with Bhagini Samaj affiliated with AIWC, New Delhi on September 10 at the Aviation Campus, Srinivas University. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about the growing importance of cyber security and responsible digital practices in the modern digital era.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by the floral welcome of the dignitaries. The dignitaries included Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University; Kripa Shetty, vice president, AIWC, New Delhi; Pramoda Bolar, standing committee member, AIWC, New Delhi; Harish Neermarga, founder & managing director, Accolade Tech Solutions Private Limited; and Vijayalakshmi Bhat, past president of Bhagini Samaj, along with the committee member.

The purpose of the day was delivered by Kripa Shetty, vice president, AIWC, New Delhi, highlighting the relevance of cyber security awareness in the present digital environment.

The key session of the programme was delivered by Harish Neermarga, founder & managing director, Accolade Tech Solutions Private Limited. He addressed the students on various aspects of cyber security and highlighted the importance of identifying online threats, protecting personal information, developing secure digital habits, and responding responsibly to cyber incidents. The session provided students with valuable awareness about maintaining safety and responsibility while using digital platforms.

The programme witnessed the participation of students of final year BBA aviation management, and first year BBA aviation management, BBA aviation & logistics management. The session encouraged students to remain alert and informed about cyber threats and to adopt responsible practices in their everyday digital lives.

An important highlight of the programme was the selection of Pratheeksha S Shetty, assistant professor, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University as a representative of the AIWC Youth Wing. Her selection provides an opportunity for her to actively represent and participate in youth-oriented initiatives and activities associated with the organisation.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks. The programme reinforced the message that cyber security begins with awareness and grows through responsible action. It encouraged students to stay alert, stay informed, and contribute towards building a safer and more secure digital world.

The event was successfully conducted under the support and guidance of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, along with the support of the SWO, HODs, guest lecture coordinator, faculty members and staff of the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University.
