Belagavi, Sep 12: In a bizarre incident, a car owner in Athani town of Belagavi district was reportedly issued a Rs 500 traffic fine challan for allegedly driving without wearing a helmet.
The notice was sent to Athani resident Subhash Bojane after an AI camera installed near Ambedkar Circle reportedly recorded his car. The traffic violation notice, sent to the vehicle owner's WhatsApp number, mentioned ‘No Helmet’ as the reason for the penalty.

Bojane was left surprised after receiving the fine challan, as the alleged violation stated that he had not worn a helmet while driving a car.
Highlighting the apparent error, he later recorded a video of himself wearing a helmet while driving the car and questioned whether motorists were now expected to wear helmets while operating four-wheelers.
Expressing his displeasure over the incident, Bojane shared the video on social media, where it has since gone viral.
The incident reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of Athani police station, sparking discussion over the functioning and accuracy of AI-based traffic monitoring cameras.
