Mangaluru, Sep 12: As part of the MoU between the institutions, The Indian Institute of Skill Development and Research (IISDR), in association with St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Multiple dynamics & joy of teaching in the present paradigm” at St Agnes College, Mangaluru.

The programme brought together more than 50 faculty members from various educational institutions of the region including faculties from St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, providing an opportunity to reflect on the changing dynamics of teaching, contemporary challenges in education and the importance of making the teaching-learning process meaningful, engaging and joyful.

Prof Dr Jayarama Shetty S, director & chairman, JS Degree Colleges & JS PU College, Bengaluru, was the resource person. Drawing from his four decades of experience in education and institutional leadership, he shared valuable perspectives on teaching excellence, leadership, changing learner expectations and the evolving role of educators in the present educational paradigm. He emphasised the need for teachers to continuously adapt, innovate and nurture both competence and human values in the learning environment.

The programme also highlighted the importance of faculty development as a continuous process for strengthening educational institutions and empowering educators to respond effectively to emerging academic and societal needs.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, was associated with the programme. Dr Steevan Pinto, programme chair, IISDR Leadership Connect & Dr Ronald Sequeira, executive director, IISDR coordinated the FDP.

IISDR advisors P Suresh, Shamlal Yermal and Dr Laxmish Rai, along with Rakesh Lobo, lead – Industry Relations, IISDR, were present during the programme. Arundathi Hegde, deputy director, IISDR, proposed the vote of thanks. Jincy Thomas, faculty at St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru compared whole FDP.

The FDP concluded with an emphasis on the need for educators to remain lifelong learners, inspirational mentors and catalysts of transformation, thereby contributing to the development of future-ready students and institutions.
