Mangaluru, Sep 12: Srinivas University, Institute of Physiotherapy and Institute of Occupational Therapy, organized Orientation Day 2026 for the newly admitted Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B PT) and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B OT) students at Hotel Srinivas, Hampankatta, Mangaluru.
The programme marked the formal beginning of the students’ academic journey at Srinivas University and aimed to familiarize them and their parents with the University, academic programmes, professional opportunities, campus facilities, student support systems, and the values expected of future healthcare professionals.





The programme was graced by the Hon chancellor, Dr A Srinivas Rao who presided over the event, along with A Vijayalakshmi R Rao, Prof Er A Mitra S Rao, trustee members board of governors, Srinivas University, Dr Ajay Kumar, registrar (development), Srinivas University, Dr Thrishala Noronha, dean Institute of Physiotherapy and Dr Pranjali Mhatre, dean, Institute of Occupational Therapy, Srinivas University.
The programme was formally inaugurated by the dignitaries with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising an auspicious beginning to the academic journey of the newly admitted students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Ajay Kumar, registrar (development), expressed his pride in being an alumnus of the Institute of Physiotherapy. He highlighted the University’s strong and growing alumni network across the globe and its excellent placement record, encouraging the students to make the best use of the academic and professional opportunities available to them.
Prof Er Mitra S Rao administered the oath to the newly admitted students, reinforcing their commitment to professional values and responsibilities. In her address, she emphasised that effective communication is a key competency that every healthcare professional must develop and encouraged the students to strengthen their communication skills throughout their professional education.
A Vijayalakshmi R Rao blessed the students with her words of wisdom and congratulated them on choosing the noble healthcare professions of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. She wished them success as they embarked on their academic and professional journey.
Delivering the presidential remarks, Dr A Srinivas Rao, Hon’ble chancellor, Srinivas University, highlighted the remarkable evolution of physiotherapy over the years into an increasingly autonomous profession with expanding opportunities for independent professional practice. He encouraged the students to embrace the opportunities ahead with dedication and responsibility and extended his best wishes for their future. He also congratulated the parents for placing their trust in Srinivas University and assured them of the University’s commitment to nurturing competent and responsible healthcare professionals.
Dr Thrishala Noronha, dean, Institute of Physiotherapy, welcomed the gathering, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Pranjali C Mhatre, dean, Institute of Occupational Therapy. The programme was compered by Dr Radhika Gopal S (PT), associate professor, Institute of Physiotherapy, and Dr Trupti Nayak (OT), assistant professor, Institute of Occupational Therapy.
Following the inaugural session, a comprehensive orientation programme was conducted to familiarize the newly admitted students and their parents with the B PT and B OT programmes. The programme concluded with an interactive session, marking a positive and enthusiastic beginning to the academic journey of the B PT and B OT batch of 2026 at Srinivas University.
