Jaipur, Sep 14: Rajasthan Police have arrested 45-year-old Rahul Jha, who allegedly fled after murdering his wife and three daughters at their residence in Jaipur.
According to police sources, Jha was apprehended in the Reengus area of Sikar district after a special police team tracked his movements through extensive CCTV footage. A reward of Rs 25,000 had been announced on Saturday for information leading to his capture.
Following the killings in Jaipur, Rahul reportedly traveled to the Khatu Shyam Ji temple and checked into a local hotel. Facing a shortage of money, he allegedly attempted to sell his ring, but the hotelier refused to pay even Rs 500 for it. Rahul then left the hotel and proceeded to Reengus, where police teams were already laying a trap based on inputs regarding his presence.
A special police team kept a close watch near a hotel in Reengus. When Rahul emerged with a cloth covering his face to avoid recognition, officers identified and immediately apprehended him.
Gruesome Discovery in Kardhani
The horrific crime came to light around 10 a.m. on Friday after police received information about the deaths. Upon reaching the house in Kardhani, police discovered the bodies of Geeta Jha (40) and her three daughters: Nandini (22), Radhika (17), and Girish alias Gauri (14).
Geeta's body was found in a first-floor room, while the bodies of the three daughters were discovered in two rooms on the ground floor. Investigators recovered Rahul's blood-stained clothes from the scene, along with his switched-off mobile phone.
Financial Distress and Execution of the Crime
Preliminary investigations suggest that Rahul was under heavy debt and severe financial pressure, which may have driven him to commit the murders. Police suspect he initially spiked his family's food with poison.
Fearing that they might survive the poisoning, he allegedly fetched a 10 kg cement slab measuring nearly one-and-a-half feet from outside the house and repeatedly struck his unconscious wife and daughters on their heads and faces. After ensuring their deaths, he changed out of his blood-stained clothes and fled.
Investigation further revealed that around 7 a.m., Rahul collected milk from the milkman, prepared tea for his 85-year-old father, Lakshminath Jha, and told him he was stepping out before fleeing the house.
The accused remains in police custody, where investigators are interrogating him further to establish the exact sequence of events, motive, and specific circumstances surrounding the gruesome crime.
