Media Release

Ajman, Sep 15: Thumbay Medicity welcomed Karnataka minister for energy and tourism K J George on an official visit that underscored the deepening ties between Karnataka and the UAE in healthcare, medical education, and tourism.

The minister was received by Dr Thumbay Moideen and the leadership of Thumbay Group at its flagship healthcare and academic campus in Ajman.

During his visit, George toured key facilities across Thumbay Medicity, including Gulf Medical University, Thumbay University Hospital, and Thumbay Rehabilitation Hospital, gaining a firsthand view of the scale and standard of medical education, clinical care, and research infrastructure built by Thumbay Group over more than two decades. The minister engaged with faculty, students, and healthcare professionals, many of whom represent the strong and growing Indian diaspora contributing to the UAE's healthcare sector.

Gulf Medical University, part of the Thumbay Group ecosystem, is widely regarded as one of the finest and most respected medical universities in the world, drawing students from over 111 nationalities and producing healthcare professionals who now serve across the globe, including a substantial number from Karnataka and the wider Indian subcontinent. The minister's visit is expected to open new avenues for collaboration between Karnataka's healthcare and tourism sectors and Thumbay Group's expanding global footprint.

"Thumbay Medicity is a remarkable example of what vision and consistency can build over the years. Gulf Medical University stands today as one of the finest medical universities in the world, and it is a matter of pride that so many of our students from Karnataka have found a home here. I look forward to exploring stronger partnerships between our state and this institution in healthcare, education, and tourism," said K J George.

Thumbay Group is one of the UAE's largest healthcare, education, and hospitality conglomerates, anchored by Gulf Medical University — the region's largest and top-ranked private medical university — along with Thumbay University Hospital, Thumbay Rehabilitation Hospital, Thumbay Labs, and a network of clinics, diagnostic centres, and academic institutions across the GCC and beyond.
