Kasargod, Sep 16: In a dramatic turn of events in Uppala, two 'Thar' vehicles bearing the exact same registration number were spotted on the same road, leading to police intervention and the seizure of both SUVs.

Both vehicles prominently displayed the number plate KL 14 AJ 3008. Acting on a tip-off from locals, a police team led by Manjeshwar station officer Vishnu, along with sub-inspector Shabari and other personnel, arrived at the spot and inspected the vehicles.

Following the inspection, both SUVs were taken into custody and brought to the Manjeshwar police station.

Police verified that the owner of the genuine vehicle is a resident of Nellikunnu in Kasargod. He presented himself at the station after being summoned by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the person operating the vehicle with the fake number plate, identified as a resident of Bela, failed to appear at the station despite being issued a notice. Manjeshwar sub-inspector Shabari stated that a case has been registered against him.

The police have successfully traced the actual registration number of the Bela resident's vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused affixed the fake number plate to evade vehicle seizure by financial institutions over unpaid loan instalments.
