Puttur, Sep 16: Bilinele Blasters emerged victorious in a thrilling finish to claim the championship title at the 'Alpha Premier League' cricket tournament, organized by the St Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM) at the local Gandhi Maidan.

The tournament featured a total of 11 competing teams. In an intensely fought final match against Mangaluru Advaik, Bilinele Blasters secured the trophy by defeating their opponents in a dramatic super over finish.

Cricket for a cause: Cancer care initiative

Beyond the sporting spirit, the tournament earned widespread public acclaim for its social purpose. SMYM organized the event with the noble aim of raising funds to provide financial assistance to underprivileged cancer patients under their dedicated 'Cancer Care' project.

Belthangady’s 'Kalpatharu School of Education Trust' supported the cause by sponsoring the tournament's first-prize cash award of Rs 25,000.

Venerable Fr Shaji Mathew commended the youth of SMYM for their strong social commitment. The event was successfully led by Litto, Jayson, Naveen, Thomas, Abhin, Shan, Joel, Nayan Joshua, Joshua Pulikkal, Anoop, Ashton, Disha, Jittu, Sanusha, San Jo, Sister Rosna, and others.
