Bantwal, Sep 16: The Bantwal town police have arrested a man who had been absconding abroad for the past six years after failing to appear before the court in a 2020 criminal case. The arrest was made at the Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday, September 15.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Noufal alias Safari Noufal (34), a resident of Bajal Nanthoor in Mangaluru. He was apprehended by the police with the assistance of the airport's immigration department while he was returning home from a foreign country.

Noufal was a wanted accused with a pending warrant in connection to a case registered at the Bantwal town police station (Crime No 24/2020). The charges against him include offences under sections 143, 147, 148, 504, 323, 324, 506, and 427 read with 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and section 2(a) of the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the court. He has been remanded to judicial custody until September 29.
