New Delhi, Sep 17: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly begun the process of appointing the next chairman of the men’s cricket team selection committee, with Ajit Agarkar unlikely to receive another extension.
Agarkar was appointed to the position in July 2023, and his current contract is set to expire on October 4.
The former India fast bowler was earlier expected to receive an extension until the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, recent developments may have affected the possibility of his continuing in the role.
According to a report by NDTV, the BCCI has shortlisted two potential candidates for the position: former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha, who is already part of the current selection panel.
The board is reportedly considering the two names as it moves ahead with the process of identifying Agarkar’s successor.
