Korba, Sep 18: Three minor girls drowned while bathing in a pond in Nunera village of Chhattisgarh’s Korba district on Thursday, police said.
The incident occurred in the area under Pali police station. The deceased were identified as Indu Agariya, 7, and Rakhi and Sadhna, both aged eight.
According to police, the girls had gone to the pond for a bath but failed to return home. Their families subsequently reached the spot and found their clothes and footwear on the bank.
During a search of the pond, the family members spotted Indu’s body, following which the bodies of the other two girls were also recovered from the water.
Police have registered an accidental death report and launched an investigation into the incident.
