Bengaluru, Sep 19: Home minister Priyank Kharge launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the opposition of treating the coastal region as a mere laboratory for communalism and a captive vote bank.

He asserted that the saffron party is gripped by deep panic and an existential crisis after witnessing the current government's aggressive pro-development agenda.

Dismissing the BJP's criticism that the historic special cabinet meeting in Mangaluru was a hollow gesture, Kharge hit back on 'X', stating that while the BJP's legacy in the region was defined by "smearing blood on the hands of locals" and peddling a language of provocation, the present administration is successfully reshaping the coast into a modern hub of innovation, data centres, water metros, and marine biotechnology.

Highlighting landmark governance moves—such as granting official status to the Tulu language and rolling out a massive Rs 32,611 crore development package across three coastal districts—Kharge challenged the BJP to justify their zero-contribution record, adding that everyday citizens have finally pivoted away from divisive politics toward future progress.
