Bengaluru, Sep 19: School students across Karnataka will get a 19-day Dasara vacation during the 2026-27 academic year, according to the annual academic calendar issued by the School Education and Literacy Department.
The vacation will apply to government, aided and private primary and high schools across the state. As per the academic calendar, the Dasara holidays will begin on October 3, 2026, and continue until October 21.

October 2 will be a general holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti, followed by the official commencement of the Dasara vacation on October 3. Schools will reopen on October 22, following the Vijayadashami holiday on October 21.
The second term of the academic year will run from October 22, 2026, to April 10, 2027. The summer vacation will begin from April 11, 2027.
However, district-level changes to the holiday schedule may be made by the respective deputy directors of School Education and Literacy based on local weather conditions or other requirements.
The extended break is expected to provide students and families an opportunity to celebrate the Dasara festivities and plan holidays during the vacation period.
