Beltangady, Sep 20: In a tragic incident, the body of a woman was discovered in a farm pond at Gundikanda in Shishila village. The family members of the deceased have raised suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased has been identified as Chinnamma alias Chitravathi (46), a resident of Siribagilu village in Kadaba taluk. She was married to Taniyappa Gowda 20 years ago, and the couple has two children.

According to the details, Chinnamma's body was found on the night of September 16 in a farm pond belonging to a neighbour, Kushalappa Gowda, in Gundikanda. While initial speculations suggested that she might have taken her own life by jumping into the pond due to depression, her brother, Gangadhar Gowda, has filed a formal complaint at the Dharmasthala police station expressing doubts and alleging foul play.
The Dharmasthala police have registered a case based on the complaint, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause of death.
