Udupi, Sep 21: A 50-year-old fisherman drowned while fishing in the sea near the yard at Hejamady Kodi on Saturday evening, September 19.
The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Puthran (50), a resident of Hejamady Kodi.
According to reports, Bhaskar was fishing using a cast net when the net, along with its rope, fell into the sea.
He entered the water to retrieve the net but reportedly lost his balance after being hit by the waves and drowned.
A case has been registered at the Padubidri police station in connection with the incident.
