Udupi, Sep 21: The birthday of the correspondent of St Mary’s English Medium School (SMES), Kannarpady, Fr Denis D'Sa, was celebrated with joy and gratitude at the school on Saturday, September 19.

The formal programme began with a prayer song presented by the school’s Music Club, invoking God’s blessings upon the correspondent. The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony.

Representatives of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff and support staff conveyed their birthday wishes by presenting bouquets, greeting cards and flower saplings to Fr Denis D'Sa.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Denis D'Sa urged the students to make their lives meaningful by practising the values of sharing and gratitude.

The teachers added a melodious touch to the celebration by presenting a special wishing song.

The formal programme was compered by Deborah and Adele of grade 8.

A cultural programme followed, featuring graceful dance performances by the kindergarten children and grade 7 students as an expression of their love and gratitude. The cultural programme was compered by Zoya and Vihan of grade 2.

Principal Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza, vice principal Rita Quadros, assistant parish priest Fr Leo Praveen Noronha, Maxim D'Souza, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, head boy Parth and head girl Brahmi were present on the occasion.
