Dubai, Sep 21: United Pangalites (UPA) celebrated the Nativity Feast 2026 (Monthi Fest) on Sunday, September 6, at Sports Bay, Al Karama, Dubai.
The celebration brought together Pangla parishioners and their families in an atmosphere of faith, unity, and joy. The event provided an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the blessed occasion of Monthi Fest.
The programme was hosted by Renol Rodrigues, who highlighted the significance of the Nativity Feast and Jovin D’Souza welcomed all who gathered for the celebration. This was followed by a graceful prayer dance performed by Anica.
The traditional celebrations commenced with a prayer led by Sweeny. Children then offered flowers to the statue of Mother Mary, accompanied by the Konkani hymns ‘Sakkad Sangathe Melya’ and ‘Moriyek Hogolsiyam.’ Blessed Novem mixed with milk was served to all attendees along with sweets, in keeping with the festive tradition.
The programme was graced by Joseph Mathias, managing director of Merit Freight LLC, as the chief guest along with Dayan D’Souza, Nelson Rodricks & Ronald Fernandes. Joseph Mathias delivered an insightful speech on the significance of the Nativity Feast, highlighting the importance of faith, family values, and community unity. His inspiring words were appreciated by all present and added a special dimension to the celebration.
On this occasion, UPA also recognized the academic achievements of children from Pangla parishioner families who had performed exceptionally well in their school examinations. The children were Aarol Melroy D’Mello, Clarissa Ashleen D’Souza and Ethan Royce Fernandes.
The celebration further featured a variety of entertainment programmes presented by UPA members and children, adding to the festive spirit and creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.
A traditional Novem Jevan served on banana leaves was arranged for all those gathered.
Following lunch, an exciting game of Housie Housie was conducted, which was enjoyed by participants of all ages.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Veena Noronha, who expressed gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, participants, and attendees for making the celebration a grand success.
