Mangaluru, Sep 21: In a significant development aimed at strengthening healthcare access in the semi-urban and rural region, Souvrabhaa Hospital inaugurated its newly constructed hospital at Padubidri. KMC Hospital, Mangaluru’s expert emergency medicine team, will be extending its 24/7 emergency services and trauma care at Souvrabhaa Hospital Padubidri.
The hospital was inaugurated by U T Khader, minister for health & family welfare, government of Karnataka, along with other dignitaries. The programme was attended by the chief guests, Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister, government of Karnataka and former MLA, Kaup; Suresh Shetty Gurme, MLA, Kaup; and Pramod Madhwaraj, former minister & former MLA of Udupi. Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the Radiology Department, Suresh Shetty Gurme inaugurated the Emergency Medicine Department, and Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the OT Complex.
The programme was also attended by Kishore Alva, president & executive director, Adani Group – Karnataka / Southern India; Dr Basavaraj G. Hubballi, District Health & Family Welfare Officer, Udupi district; Pramod Kunder, cluster director, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru & Mysuru; Dr Jeedhu Radhakrishnan, cluster head – Emergency Medicine, KMC Hospitals, Mangaluru; Padmanabha Kornaya, president, Shri Vanadurga Trust (R), Padubidri; Naveenchandra J Shetty, KPCC coordinator & social worker; Ravindranath Hegde, former member, Zilla Parishad; Jeethendra Furtado, former president, Palimar Panchayat; and Mahamaya Prasad Roy, deputy general manager, Canara Bank, Regional Office, Udupi.

This collaboration is expected to provide seamless, advanced medical care to the population in and around Padubidri, Mulky, Belman, Shirva, Mukka, Hejamady, Yermal, Palimar, Uchila, Nandikoor and Attur, ensuring that patients receive timely and life-saving treatment in the critical first moments during the golden hour, which is a critical time for patient survival in medical emergencies.
The addition of emergency services from KMC Hospital at Souvrabhaa Hospital Padubidri will ensure that people in the region no longer have to endure long travel times to access critical care. The centre will be equipped with modern life-saving equipment backed by an advanced cardiac life support ambulance. The programme also included the handover of a barricade to Padubidri police station.
