Mangaluru, Sep 22: Tulu theatre and films have made a significant contribution to the growth of the Tulu language. The Tulu film industry also has a history of around 55 years, with more than 150 Tulu films released so far. Some of these films have received state- and national-level awards. More than 15 Tulu films are released every year.
In this regard, Tulu Film Producers’ Association president R Dhanraj met chief minister D K Shivakumar in Mangaluru and submitted a memorandum seeking subsidies for at least 10 films produced in regional languages.
It was also requested that the chief minister inaugurate the Regional Language International Film Festival, which has been planned to be held in Mangaluru from December 25 to 27.
The memorandum further sought the inclusion of regional film producers in the subsidy committee, award committee and censor committee.
