Beltangady, Sep 22: Forest department personnel rescued a leopard that had fallen into an open well belonging to Ashok Poojary, a resident of Bakyaradda in Karimanelu village of the taluk.

The leopard had fallen into the nearly 30-foot-deep well, which had around six feet of water, while searching for food. The incident came to the notice of the family members on Monday September 21. After receiving the information, forest department personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.

Under the guidance of Moodbidri ACF Akash Kadam, Venur RFO Bharat, DRFO Ashwith, forest guard Divakar and other personnel carried out the operation with the cooperation of local residents. The leopard was later shifted to a safe forest area as per the instructions of senior officials.

Dr Yashaswini provided information about the leopard's health and said that the rescued leopard is a female, approximately three years old, and is in good health.
