Mangaluru, Sep 23: A 53-year-old man from Kumpala passed away following a massive heart attack while on the Char Dham yatra in Uttarakhand.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Poojary, a resident of Kumpala Vidyanagar.
On September 18, a 15-member group from the Thokkottu area had embarked on a pilgrimage to Haridwar, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. After completing their visit to Haridwar, the group reached Yamunotri. According to sources, Rajesh collapsed and died on the spot while resting in the outer premises of the temple after completing the deity's darshan.
Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Satish Kumpala extended crucial help to bring the mortal remains back to the hometown. He contacted Kedar Singh Rawat, former MLA of the Yamunotri assembly constituency in Uttarakhand, requesting assistance for the stranded pilgrims. Responding swiftly, the former MLA helped transport the body to a hospital in Dehradun and facilitated all the necessary arrangements to airlift the mortal remains to Mangaluru.
Rajesh worked at Netravati Garage in Jeppu, which is owned by his brother. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son.
