Beltangady, Sep 23: In a chilling and grim turn of events in Shishila village, a pall of gloom has descended after a local man allegedly died by suicide, hanging himself inside his home just days after his wife's body mysteriously surfaced in a nearby farm pond.

The deceased husband has been identified as Thaniyappa Gowda, a resident of Gundikkadu.

Local panic ensued when Thaniyappa went completely off the radar for "two to three days". Prompted by fears for his safety, members of the Shaurya Disaster Management Team launched an intensive search, ultimately making the grim discovery of his body hanging lifelessly inside his residence.

This heartbreaking development comes hard on the heels of another tragedy involving his wife, Chinnamma, whose lifeless body was earlier pulled from a pond on a neighbouring property. With her sudden passing shrouded in mystery, the exact cause of death remains officially unconfirmed.

Raising serious foul-play concerns, Chinnamma’s brother, Gangadhara Gowda, formally approached law enforcement, stating, "There is deep suspicion surrounding her death." Acting on his formal grievance, the Dharmasthala police had promptly registered a case.

Following the tragic discovery of Thaniyappa's body under similar dark clouds, local authorities rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area for rigorous inspections, and launched a full-scale investigation to uncover the truth behind the couple's twin deaths.
