Nagoya, Sep 23: Indian shooters continued their medal-winning run at the Asian Games 2026, securing bronze medals in both the men's and women's skeet team events on Wednesday.

Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill claimed the men's skeet team bronze after finishing level with Kazakhstan at 346 points and then prevailing in a tense shoot-off.

Earlier, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Razia Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan had also won bronze in the women's skeet team competition.

Naruka led India's men's qualification effort with a score of 119 out of 125, while Mairaj contributed 116 and Bhavtegh 111. With Kazakhstan also finishing on 346 points, the bronze medal was decided through a shoot-off, which the Indian trio won.

The men's bronze was India's second shooting medal of the day and further strengthened the country's performance in the discipline at the Games.

Naruka also qualified for the men's skeet individual final but narrowly missed another medal. Qatar's Al-Athba won gold with an Asian record of 34, while China's Lyu Jianlin took silver with 33 and Chinese Taipei's Lee claimed bronze with 29.

Naruka finished fourth with 25/28, missing the podium by a single point.

In the women's skeet team event, Parinaaz, Razia and Maheshwari finished with 331 points after three days of qualification.

China's Che Yufei, Jian Yiting and Jiang Chaoyu won gold with 347 points, while Kazakhstan's Assem Orynbay, Zoya Piskun and Adel Sadakbayeva took silver with 336.

Meanwhile, double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women's 10m air pistol individual final, missing out on a podium finish.

South Korea's Gaeun Choo won gold with an Asian and Games record score of 246.3. China's Yiyao Shen took silver with 241.3, while compatriot Ranxin Jiang secured bronze with 221.6.

Manu had entered the final after finishing third in qualification with 579 points, including 20 inner 10s. She scored 181.1 in the eight-shooter final.

India also missed out on a medal in the women's 10m air pistol team event after finishing fourth with an aggregate of 1719-44x. Vietnam won bronze with 1719-46x, while China took gold with 1735-56x and South Korea secured silver with 1730-55x.

Manu will now turn her attention to the 25m pistol event, where she will compete alongside Esha and 2018 Asian Games champion Rahi Sarnobat.

With the women's skeet team bronze, India's shooting medal tally at the Asian Games rose to six, comprising four silver and two bronze medals.

At the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, India won seven gold, nine silver and six bronze medals in shooting for a record haul of 22 medals.
