Kasargod, Sept 23: An eight-year-old boy drowned in the Madhuvahini River at Manya Muttathodi in Kasargod, dying despite emergency treatment at a private hospital.

The deceased has been identified as K A Abdullah, son of K Abdul Rahman and Aishath Shibina of Kallakat Kopa Kadambatti House, Muttathodi.

Abdullah was a Class 2 student at a private English-medium school in Manya. Abdullah was near the Madhuvahini River close to the Kopa Bridge with his father Abdul Rahman, sister Khadijath Shaima and his paternal aunt’s daughter when the incident occurred.

Abdullah, who had been standing on the riverbank, suddenly went missing. During a frantic search, the family members spotted him struggling in the water.

He was immediately pulled out and rushed to a hospital in Kasargod. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Chengala, where doctors provided emergency treatment. However, he could not be saved.

A case has been registered at Vidyanagar police station.
