New Delhi, Sep 24: Yoga guru Swami Ramdev on Wednesday rejected allegations of adulteration in Patanjali ghee and claims that some medicines manufactured by the company had been banned.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Ramdev said misinformation was being spread against Patanjali and denied that the Supreme Court had banned any medicine manufactured by the company.
He claimed that Patanjali medicines meet international standards and said no drug manufactured by the company had been found below the required parameters by any agency in India or abroad.
Ramdev also dismissed allegations that Patanjali ghee contained adulterants, including animal fat or bone, and said the product could be tested at any laboratory.
Referring to former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Ramdev said some statements against Patanjali had been made on the basis of hearsay. He said he had subsequently met Singh and that his misconceptions had been cleared. Ramdev added that Patanjali had withdrawn the defamation case filed against Singh.
Ramdev also criticised what he described as the “Drug and Remedy Act”, calling it outdated and saying that the law needed to be changed. He said Patanjali had raised the issue with the Prime Minister and would continue to pursue the demand.
Speaking about Patanjali’s employment contribution, Ramdev claimed that the company had provided jobs to around five lakh people and aimed to create employment for another five lakh in the coming years.
He said Patanjali had sought to give India’s traditional heritage a global identity by combining it with modern science. Ramdev also said the company was challenging foreign firms in the market.
Ramdev further spoke about Patanjali’s claims concerning yoga and Ayurveda and said the company was working to promote these practices globally.
He also claimed that Patanjali could address conditions including what he referred to as “type-3 diabetes”, and invited those interested to approach the company and experience its treatment.
The claims made by Ramdev at the press conference come amid continuing discussions and allegations concerning Patanjali’s products and medicines.
