Kerala raises vehicle tax exemption limit for persons with disabilities to Rs 15 lac

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 24: The Kerala government has raised the vehicle tax exemption limit for persons with disabilities from Rs 7 lac to Rs 15 lac.

The exemption applies to vehicles purchased by persons with multiple disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities, state Transport Minister C P John said in a statement.

Previously, motor vehicle tax exemption was available for vehicles with a purchase value of up to Rs 7 lac.

The revised limit was announced in the state's revised Budget for 2026-27. As part of implementing the Budget decision, the government has amended the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act and issued a fresh notification revising the 2022 order, the minister said.
