New Delhi, Sep 24: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Thursday appointed organisational joint general secretaries for several states, including Maharashtra, as part of a wider restructuring of the party's organisational responsibilities.
According to the list released by the BJP, Shiv Prakash has been appointed National Co-General Secretary (Organisation) for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa. Saudan Singh has been assigned the same responsibility for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
Satish Dhond has been appointed State Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Madhukar has been given the responsibility of State General Secretary (Organisation) for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Ravindra Raju has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation) for Assam and Tripura.
Ratnakar has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation) for Gujarat and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The appointments came a day after the BJP announced new in-charges and co-in-charges for several states and Union Territories. Nabin had approved the appointments on Wednesday as part of changes to the party's organisational structure.
Senior BJP leader Smriti Irani has been assigned organisational responsibilities for Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while Sunil Bansal has been given responsibility for West Bengal and Telangana. Vinod Tawde has been entrusted with key regional responsibilities and will continue to handle organisational work in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP has also appointed Ram Madhav as the party's in-charge for Uttarakhand, with Bansuri Swaraj named co-in-charge.
The appointments come as the BJP reorganises its organisational responsibilities across states, with the party focusing on coordination between its central and state units.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand BJP Core Group is scheduled to meet on Friday, September 25, with the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from the state expected to be among the issues discussed.
Senior party leaders are likely to deliberate on the BJP's candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat during the meeting, besides discussing organisational and political preparations connected with the election.
