Mangaluru, Sep 26: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) has awarded scholarships worth Rs 1,31,73,600 (approximately Rs 1.32 cr) to 1,236 students for the academic year 2026–27.
The scholarships have been awarded under four major categories – Vidya Spoorthi, Vidwath Spoorthi, Kreeda Spoorthi and SAFAL (St Aloysius Fellowship for Aspiring Learners) – supporting students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The university's management has awarded Rs 56,79,060 through its Vidya Spoorthi, Vidwath Spoorthi and Kreeda Spoorthi scholarship initiatives, while Rs 74,94,540 has been contributed through donors, alumni groups and memorial/endowment funds under SAFAL.
Management scholarships
The university's management scholarship recognises academic excellence, sporting achievement and financial need among students.
Vidwath Spoorthi, which recognises academic excellence, has benefited 290 students with scholarships totalling Rs 22,36,000. This includes 45 rank holders 20 undergraduate and 25 postgraduate students based on their previous academic performances.
Kreeda Spoorthi, awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence in sports at the international and national levels, has benefited 70 students, with a total scholarship amount of Rs 11,44,500. Among the recipients, four students have represented at the international level and 29 at the national level.
Vidya Spoorthi, the university's need-cum-merit scholarship, has been awarded to 379 students, amounting to Rs 22,75,000.
Together, the three management scholarship initiatives have supported 739 students with a total of Rs 56,79,060.
SAFAL – Donor and endowment scholarships
The SAFAL (St Aloysius Fellowship for Aspiring Learners) scholarships are supported by 37 donor, endowment and memorial funds and have benefited 497 students with scholarships amounting to Rs 74,94,540.

Students benefitted
The scholarship programme has benefited students across various programmes. Of the 1,236 beneficiaries, 1,196 are undergraduate students, 40 are postgraduate students.
Among the programmes, BCom has the highest number of beneficiaries with 459 students, followed by BSc with 246, BCA with 163 and BBA with 120 students.
The scholarships have been awarded to 713 female and 523 male students and the beneficiaries include 621 Hindu, 394 Christian and 221 Muslim students.
Every scholarship reflects someone’s belief in a young person’s potential. The unversity was deeply grateful to its donors, alumni and well-wishers, and remains committed to ensuring that no deserving student is held back for want of means.
