Mangaluru, Sep 26: City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a warning to people seeking jobs abroad, urging them to stay alert against fraudulent agents who lure job aspirants with promises of overseas employment and visas.

In a social media video posted on Friday, the commissioner cautioned that fraudsters are cheating people aspiring to work abroad. He strongly advised overseas job seekers to deal only with recruiting agents registered with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and to verify their credentials before parting with any money.

“There are around 25 to 30 registered recruiting agents. People should approach only agencies registered with the MEA and verify their credentials before paying any money,” he said.

The commissioner pointed out that people often turn to the police only after they have already lost money to fraudulent agents. “This delay leads to difficulties in recovering the amount, even after registering a case and arresting the accused. Hence, job seekers should exercise caution and verify the credentials of recruiting agencies before entering into any agreement or making payments,” he said.

He advised those planning to take up employment overseas to check the list of MEA-registered recruiting agents on the official portal, emigrate.gov.in, before approaching an agency, signing an agreement or making any payment.
